Dinner Dishes
Recipe:
(a) Huai San Soup -
1 whole huai san (cut into bite size)
1 whole medium size carrot (cut into bite size)
12 lotus seeds
10 red dates
1 free range chicken drumstick (blanched for 5 minutes)
estimated amount of sufficient water.
Bring some water in slow cooker pot and heat it up. Once is hot - around 15 minutes, add in all the ingredients and let it slow cook for several hours or till soup is tasty.
(b) Stir-fry chayote shoots
1 bunch chayote shoots
4 cloves garlic (minced)
Heat up some vco on a cooking pan and saute garlic till fragrant. Add in chayote shoots, stalks first then leaves and cook till soft.
Note: Stalks that are too hard are not edible as these are difficult to chew.
(c) Stir-fry beef with onion
1 red onion (sliced)
1 piece lean beef (marinated with 2 tsp garam masala, 1 tsp curry powder, 1 tsp turmeric powder)
- marinated for 15 minutes
2 cloves garlic (minced)
2 sorrel leaves
1 Tbsp fennel seeds
(1) Saute garlic and onion till fragrant.
(2) Add in fennel seeds and stir fry.
(3) Add in beef and stir fry till 80% cook. Add in sorrel leaves and stir well. Dish out and serve immediately.
(d) Steamed white pomfret with ginger and lemon thyme
1 whole white pomfret (marinated with 1 tsp apple cider vinegar for 15 minutes)
handful of fresh lemon thyme
1 knob ginger
Put all ingredients on a plate and steam under high heat for 10 minutes and lower heat for 5 minutes.
